Description
A carefully-sculpted sterling silver wire wrap presents this little agate cabochon to maximum advantage.
The cabochon is approximately 16mm high and 12mm wide and the finished pendant measures about 40mm high and 14mm wide.
It’s dark chocolate colouring with tan-green stripes makes it a very handsome, and eye-catching piece.
The chain on which the pendant was photographed is not included.
The technique of wire-wrapping is not new – it dates back to the early Egyptians. Wire-wrapping uses no solder or glues, the wire ends being neatly hidden away wherever possible. Because it is handmade with few tools and no machines, it is a one-off. Although there may be similar pieces, it is virtually impossible for me to repeat a pattern exactly because of the very nature of wire-wrapping.
It is also, by definition, imperfect but that’s part of the beauty.
When looking at the photos, be sure to also refer to the description for the colour, because computer monitors differ so much and can do strange things to colours.
