Description
A flower jasper cabochon set in a flowing 14kt gold-filled wire pendant.
The oval cabochon is approximately 28mm high and 18mm wide and is patterned stone with a dark tan background with creamy markings. The whole pendant measures about 55mm tall and 20mm wide.
It’s eye-catching, the gold-filled wire playing off the stone with good effect, a nice piece for any collection.
The chain on which the pendant was photographed is not included.
The technique of wire-wrapping is not new – it dates back to the early Egyptians. Wire-wrapping uses no solder or glues, the wire ends being neatly hidden away wherever possible. Because it is handmade with few tools and no machines, it is a one-off. Although there may be similar pieces, it is virtually impossible for me to repeat a pattern exactly because of the very nature of wire-wrapping.
It is also, by definition, imperfect but that’s part of the beauty.
When looking at the photos, be sure to also refer to the description for the colour, because computer monitors differ so much and can do strange things to colours.
