Description
A bright green 8mm faceted lab-created peridot is shown off to best advantage in a spectacular 14kt gold-filled wire (also known as rolled gold) wrap reminiscent of a musical clef.
The stone, held in place in the centre of the pendant in a gold-filled snapset, is a sharp, bright, green.
The finished pendant, is approximately 46mm high and 25mm wide and is sure to earn many compliments for the wearer.
The chain on which the pendant was photographed is not included.
The technique of wire-wrapping is not new – it dates back to the early Egyptians. Wire-wrapping uses no solder or glues, the wire ends being neatly hidden away wherever possible. Because it is handmade with few tools and no machines, it is a one-off. Although there may be similar pieces, it is virtually impossible for me to repeat a pattern exactly because of the very nature of wire-wrapping.
It is also, by definition, imperfect but that’s part of the beauty.
When looking at the photos, be sure to also refer to the description for the colour, because computer monitors differ so much and can do strange things to colours.
