Wear this purple foil bead bee with pride… it’s off-beat, a little quirky and a lot of fun.
The body is a 13mm purple foil bead with a sparkly 8mm purple bead for the head. Although it’s not anatomically correct (this bee has only four legs), it will have a lot of admirers wherever you go.
The brooch is approximately 37mm long and is about 24mm from wingtip to wingtip. The pin for the brooch is a handmade sterling silver pin running the length of the bee which has been fashioned in sterling silver wire.
It’s a great, fun, piece that everybody will enjoy showing off.
The technique of wire-wrapping is not new – it dates back to the early Egyptians. Wire-wrapping uses no solder or glues, the wire ends being neatly hidden away wherever possible. Because it is handmade with few tools and no machines, it is a one-off. Although there may be similar pieces, it is virtually impossible for me to repeat a pattern exactly because of the very nature of wire-wrapping.
It is also, by definition, imperfect but that’s part of the beauty.
When looking at the photos, be sure to also refer to the description for the colour, because computer monitors differ so much and can do strange things to colours.
